By winning with a score of 31 to 30 yesterday at the Arboras stadium against Martigues, Stade Niçois secured their ticket to Federal 2!
The result alone sets the tone for the match analysis: Nice – Martigues 31 – 30. We expected a close match and it was more than close, and above all thrilling.
In the end, the three-point lead in the score, and overall (two in the first leg and one in this second leg), makes the difference between Nice and their opponent. And, they are more than sufficient to achieve the season’s goal: promotion to Federal 2.
Match side: The Azuréens started this match perfectly by holding the ball and imposing long sequences on the Martégaux. They quickly took the lead and at halftime, they were ahead 23 to 3.
But upon returning from the locker room, the Provençaux, invigorated by the coaches’ talk, gradually caught up in the score, even taking the lead with 5 minutes to go!
The players had to muster their courage and dedication to secure the victory at the very end of the match, to the delight of all the Niçois.
The next step will be against Aubagne in the quarter-finals for the conquest of a title that would be the cherry on the cake for Nice.
