File on the Plaine du Var Mosque: the National Front enters the battle

The project to establish a place of worship for the Muslim faith in the west of Nice continues to be a topic of discussion. Following Monday’s City Council meeting (which was not attended by councilor Ms. Arnautu), and the conference by the En Nour association promoting the project that the mayor of Nice opposes, it is now the turn of the FN to express themselves firmly and unequivocally.

It is Marie-Christine Arnautu, Municipal and Metropolitan Councilor of Nice; Philippe Vardon, Benoรฎt Loeuillet, Regional Councilors of the PACA region, who reacted vehemently, echoing the statements of the Mayor of Nice:

“We will propose by the end of the week another project for the establishment of a mosque in the west of the city, on an appropriate site, with French funding and which will represent all branches of the Muslim faith (…) It will be a much more developed complex that will also help limit clandestine slaughtering.”

The Front National representatives are hitting the sore spot: “Thus, in the end, and after all this charade, it is indeed a second Grand Mosque that the residents of the western neighborhoods of Nice are likely to inherit. The people of Nice can count on us to continue to relentlessly fight both the Saudi-backed Grand Mosque and the municipally-backed one!”

Philippe Vardon goes even further and throws down the gauntlet: “I do not doubt that a man as courageous and virtuous as Christian Estrosi, having nothing to fear from a cowardly opponent* and his deceitful arguments, will therefore agree to debate with me on this subject, which now concerns all the people of Nice.”
