OGC Nice is two points away from the podium and hasn’t lost in three matches. However, despite its poor form, FC Nantes is still the bogey team for the Eagles: the club from the Loire region has lost only 3 of its 34 home matches against Nice in the top division, achieving 21 wins and 10 draws. In fact, they have won the last 4.
However, the Canaries have lost their last two home games in Ligue 1 without scoring (0-3 against Lille on April 3, and 0-2 against Montpellier on the 17th), which is their worst ongoing streak.
On the other hand, Nice hopes to break the curse thanks to its current good form: the Gym has lost only one of its last six league matches (5 wins, 1 draw), after winning only one of the previous six (2 draws, 3 losses).
However, the Eagles struggle away from home: they’ve won just one of their last 10 away games in L1 (5 draws and 4 losses), which was at Montpellier (2-0) on March 12.
Rennes’ defeat last night against Paris eliminated a European contender while Monaco hosts Guingamp, Saint-Etienne welcomes Toulouse, and Lille travels to Lorient. A win, or at least a draw, seems necessary for Nice to stay in the European race and prepare well for the arrival of the Greens at the Allianz Riviera for the last match of the season.
The answer will come tonight against Waldemar Kita’s men, who must welcome OGC Nice not without a bit of a bittersweet feeling…
