The matter of the prayer room for Muslims in the Var plain is certainly at the center of attention for many people.
Beyond the simmering conflict between religious associations, aside from the political controversies between libertarians and authoritarians regarding freedom of worship, a new chapter has just opened.
It is being led by animal collectives who oppose the expansion of the future site promised by the Mayor of Nice for the practice of slaughtering: “We are firmly committed to contributing to the creation of living spaces for animals and not to allowing places of death to be established,” these associations state in a chorus.
Their statement does not bode well. According to them, this option should be purely and simply removed from the project.
Otherwise, threats of political boycott would be more than likely.
Statement by Christian Razeau
While it is neither our intention nor within our statutes to discuss the relevance of a place of worship or mosque, it is within our interest to focus on the establishment of a slaughtering site.
We are against any form of slaughter, especially the method of slaughtering without stunning.
All our allied associations, regardless of the signatories, express their incomprehension regarding your project, which goes against the expectations of a modern secular and republican society.
They are ready to rise to defend the right to a dignified life and death for animals.
Currently, the creation of a slaughterhouse is completely contrary to the general movement of protest against slaughtering and slaughtering methods, as highlighted by association L 214 in its videos.
Mr. Mayor, we count on you and your Municipal Council to openly and very quickly reconsider this slaughterhouse project.
