The Association “Les Amis de LACASSAGNE” presented Professor Joël GUIGAY, Director of the Antoine-Lacassagne Center, with a check for €6000, resulting from two charitable events previously announced in the local press.
These events included a Piano Recital with Georgiana FODOR & Christophe ALVAREZ, as well as a Garage Sale. Additionally, the proceeds from the sale of an artist’s monotype (photo collage mounted on canvas), Broadway II, offered by Mr. Serge MENDJISKY, a renowned international Painter and Photographer, who had previously created an original piece for the Antoine Lacassagne Center, visible on the Cyclotron site in Nice, should be mentioned.
The purpose of the Association is to provide hospitalized individuals with some comfort items that would be difficult to budget within the regular administration of a healthcare facility. The funds raised will be dedicated to this purpose, and this latest check presentation perfectly aligns with its goals since these €6000 will be used to equip the Radiotherapy Department, specifically the Proton Therapy Service; a technique that allows for such precise targeting of tumors that it is now possible to treat pediatric tumors.
With this new equipment, the Antoine Lacassagne Center boasts one of the most comprehensive and innovative technical facilities in Europe; the only one of its kind in France.
This high technology will allow for the treatment of children’s tumors on the Cyclotron site from the first quarter of 2016. This new type of patient requires specific equipment, both medical and furniture, and also creates the need to equip indoor and outdoor play areas.
