A recent survey* published shows that the competition is not necessarily a lost cause in advance for the “left” against the Estrosi-MMLP duo. Certainly, but which left are we talking about?
Is it the outgoing coalition that brings together the various parties that make it up and that supported Michel Vauzelle? Or its split into two sides that oppose each other in the name of economic and social policy?
It is well known that the left has a particular ability to self-sabotage, it has even become its specialty.
At this stage, even though nothing is official, the Left Front-Green alliance, which could be called the “watermelon” list (red on the inside and green on the outside), seems determined to play its game with a covert ambition: to place ahead of the Socialist Party in the first round and, in fact, be the true opposition force in the Regional Council that will have shifted to the right (Estrosi or MMLP, for them it doesn’t change much).
A daring endeavor? Some prefer to play to lose and are more comfortable in opposition: criticizing is so much easier than deciding!
But, there are those who don’t give in to the inevitable and sound an alarm to call everyone to their responsibilities: like, for example, Ladislas Polski, outgoing regional councilor and regional president of the MRC:
“Christophe Castaner, the Socialist candidate, Sophie Camard and Jean-Marc Coppola, respectively leaders of the Greens and the Communist Party, have held responsibilities within the same regional majority.
Today, it seems that each one is preparing to go their own way, against all logic in this region where the right and far right are so strong.
In times of economic, social, and moral crisis, it is the responsibility of the left to embody hope for all those who have concerns about the future.
Let’s not allow partisan logic to undermine this hope. It is not too late to get organized and win.”
