OPEN PÉTANQUE – ALL TOGETHER! CDOS 06, CDH06, and CDSA06, a winning triplet

Latest News

After last year’s swimming competition, no fewer than 90 able-bodied, disabled, and intellectually challenged participants gathered at the Henri BERNARD Boulodrome in Nice. These individuals came from various specialized centers to participate in the 2nd edition of the OPEN Pétanque Handi-Valide, organized by the Alpes-Maritimes Olympic and Sports Departmental Committee through its Sports and Disability Hub, in close collaboration with the Handisport and Adapted Sport Committees.

The elected officials from the three Departmental Committees, Michèle-Anne SAHIN, president of CDH06 and Vice-president of CDOS 06 in charge of the Sports and Disability hub, representing the president of CDOS 06 Philippe MANASSERO, as well as Michel MANCEAU, president of CDSA06, were present on this day to encourage sports practice for everyone.

CDOS 06 aims to develop this type of “handi-valid” event across different disciplines to promote exchanges between athletes and to change society’s perception of disability.

Around twenty teams, each composed of a physically disabled person, an intellectually challenged individual, and an able-bodied person, competed with great enthusiasm on the pétanque courts. Everyone enjoyed a day of sport, solidarity, and camaraderie.

Let us remember that the handi and valid Open allows bringing together people with disabilities and able-bodied individuals in a sports competition.
