Plage de la Mirandole: The King of Saudi Arabia leaves, making way for equal rights for swimmers

Latest News

After spending eight days in France, the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, left France this Sunday to return to Morocco, as reported by the national press citing information confirmed by the sub-prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes.

A large part of the approximately one thousand Saudis who accompanied the prince left at the same time as he did from the city of Cannes, where they were staying in luxury hotels.

Initially, the Saudi Arabian embassy had indicated that the sovereign was likely to stay in France between July 20 and August 20.

The king’s entourage had expressed their dissatisfaction with the reception they received, but nothing suggests that the sovereign’s departure is linked to this uproar.

The security measures surrounding the king’s villa will be gradually lifted, according to the prefecture, which stated that swimmers will once again be able to access, starting Monday, the Mirandole public beach located at the foot of the villa.

The privatization of this beach had sparked significant controversy, notably with the launch of an online petition that gathered more than 150,000 signatures. Its initiator, Jean-Noël Falcou, opposition municipal councilor in Vallauris Golfe-Juan, had planned to deliver it to the prefect on Tuesday.

Now that equality of rights has been restored, all equal at the beach. And in the city?
