“50 days until the European Masters Games Nice 2015”

Latest News

In 50 days, the opening ceremony will kick off 11 days of sporting competitions from stadiums to pools, tatamis, and the famous Promenade des Anglais. 27 disciplines are on the program for athletes over 35 years old arriving from 60 different countries, all set in the idyllic backdrop of the Capital of the French Riviera.

Nearly 4,000 athletes have already confirmed their registration for the upcoming European Masters Games, which will take place in Nice from October 1 to 11. From football to tennis, triathlon to fencing, and rugby to competitive dance, there will be something for everyone across more than 40 sports venues located exclusively in the city of Nice.

The challenge of a high-level event is currently being undertaken by the Sports Department of the City of Nice, the organizer of this grand event, much like the Nice Jazz Festival, which is fully managed by the event and communication departments. This is a significant achievement for managers and staff, for whom this isn’t necessarily their primary profession, but as proven with the NJF, the municipal synergy works very well.

Indeed, a multitude of elements will need to be managed to implement the opening and closing ceremonies, the competitions of the 27 sports disciplines in close collaboration with the main local sports clubs and associations (OGC Nice Escrime, NCAA, Stade Niçois, Club Nautique de Nice, etc.), the games village to be set up on Place Masséna, as well as the numerous events scheduled throughout the Games period (conferences, urban hikes, concerts, and various sporting animations such as pilou, pitchak, or Torball).

Everyone is ready and the last 50 days, just like the last 50 meters, will be crucial in refining the final details, making adjustments, and ensuring this large machine is as well-oiled as possible on the big day.

However, for such an event to be organized optimally, volunteers will be essential for its smooth running. Nearly 500 have already committed their availability, joined by about a hundred volunteers from local institutions (City of Nice and Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis) and volunteers from supporting sports associations in each discipline. Nevertheless, the large EMG family is still seeking new volunteer team members, and you can register by clicking on the following link: Volunteers EMG Nice 2015.

And finally, if you want to know everything about the European Masters Games Nice 2015, a new version of the website was launched last week: https://emg-nice2015.fr/

So ready, set… EMG!!!
