The controversy over TAE pricing does not fade away despite the City Council’s decision to partially roll back its pricing policy (5 euros per month), granting free access for underprivileged families and the option of partial-time subscriptions for everyone to reduce costs.
In fact, the City Council’s forecast figures anticipated a registration percentage of 40% of children in its budget forecast.
It is likely that a lack of information and/or awareness is at the root of these particularly low percentages.
Registrations are still open, and therefore the final figures should be awaited before commenting on them.
Moreover, there is also room for debate among opponents…
Statement from Patrick Allemand
The start of the school year has shown that in Nice the enrollment rates in educational care times (TAE) from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. were generally low but also very variable:
40% at Papon; 35% at the Port; 20% at St Roch or Nice Flore; 2% at Ariane and Bon Voyage!
Christian Estrosi’s policy is running the inequality machine at full speed, maintaining and reinforcing inequalities. It creates inequality and injustice by neglecting children from the neighborhoods.
To give a comparison, in Toulouse, where activities are free, 90% of schoolchildren have participated in extracurricular activities stemming from the reform since 2013.
The numbers speak for themselves; free access means equality.

Municipal Councilor of Nice (group A Different Future for Nice)
