The 6th edition of the Haute Route Alps will start in Nice this Sunday and finish in Geneva on September 3rd.
The ascent of the Galibier from both sides, as well as those of the Izoard and Bonette passes, will be among the highlights of the alpine edition. The famous hairpin bends of Montvernier leading to the Chaussy pass will challenge the riders with sections exceeding 12%, while the Tra pass, one of the novelties of 2016, will test the peloton as it approaches its final destination, the shores of Lake Geneva in Geneva.
The climbs of the Cormet de Roselend, the Madeleine, and finishes in the heart of prestigious resorts such as Auron, Risoul, Courchevel, or Megรจve make the Haute Route Alps a legendary and unmissable event.
The first stage will begin gently with the Nice pass, allowing riders to warm up before tackling the Turini pass, a first-time ascent for the Haute Route, made famous by the Monte Carlo rally, and then crossing the finish line in the heart of the Auron resort at an altitude of 1,600 meters.
Other highlights of the week, which promises to be memorable for the riders, will include the first individual time trial to be organized on the legendary Galibier pass as well as the 17 hairpin bends of the Montvernier climb on the fifth day.
