Rumors have been widespread, fueled by so-called well-informed sources. But, in the end, in the PACA region, the socialists have no desire to play the role of subordinate.
This is strongly and convincingly asserted by Patrick Allemand, who will head the list in the Alpes-Maritimes:
The choice of fusion is the choice of ambiguity, whereas, on the contrary, voters need clarity.
This idea makes no sense for the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur region. We cannot imagine fusion with someone who is republican only in the name of their party and who delivers a discourse that embodies the extreme right.
We can’t have an adversary who talks about a Fifth Column, proposes bombing ships in Libyan ports, stokes fears by brandishing the threat of DAESH terrorists infiltrated among refugees, and imagine for a second a fusion.
Such a fusion would reinforce the “UMPS” thesis dear to the National Front and Marine Le Pen, while Mr. Estrosi continually panders to the extreme right.
