The work on the construction of line 2 (west-east) of the tramway continues at the planned pace. The tunnel boring machine “Catherine” tirelessly continues its task in the construction of the underground section.
Yesterday, at Durandy Square, the concrete pouring of this first station was a strong signal. The construction is progressing, and the covering with a slab will allow digging below the level of what will, once the work is completed, be the roof of the future station.
In the same vein, a similar operation will take place by the end of the year at the Alsace-Lorraine station.
It’s also an opportunity to review the progress of the work on the underground section, the subject of much criticism and debate, both financial and technical.
The tunnel boring machine thus continues its path: it crossed the Paillon last July and has just passed the Marshall parking lot, the deepest passage of the entire route (-30 meters). It will traverse the future Durandy station as it has traversed the upcoming Garibaldi station.
By spring 2017, the tunnel and all the station “boxes” will be completed.
