The decree establishing these ZTIs and their eligibility criteria was published this Thursday, September 24. These ZTIs stem from the bill that was laboriously, but finally, passed by Parliament on July 10.
Thus, there will not only be ZTIs in Paris* since the two major tourist hubs on the French Riviera, Cannes and Nice, are also included.
Stores will be allowed to open there every day until midnight, up to 52 Sundays a year.
The text does not detail the map of these zones, which will be established by order, but specifies the criteria considered for their definition.
Namely: “Having an international reach due to an internationally renowned commercial, cultural, heritage, or leisure offer,” “being served by transport infrastructure of national or international importance,” “experiencing exceptional tourist traffic from non-French residents,” or “benefiting from a significant flow of purchases made by tourists residing outside France, evaluated by the amount of purchases or their share in the total turnover of the zone.”
