“Feel Sport” is all about feeling good both physically and mentally. This national initiative, organized by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), targets people of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest.
The second edition of this event returns this year to Grasse to demonstrate the benefits of sports throughout the day on Sunday, September 18.
This discovery day will take place on the esplanade of Cours Honoré-Cresp from 10 AM to 5 PM. Numerous sports activities are planned, including workshops focused on health, supervised by professionals.
The main event of this operation: a GIANT ZUMBA PARTY will take place at 11 AM, with participation from all voluntary clubs in the 06 area.
Philippe Manassero, President of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of the Alpes-Maritimes, explains:
Nice Premium: What is the principle of “Feel Sport”?
Philippe Manassero: It is a national action orchestrated by the CNOSF exhibition. It is sport for everyone and for all ages. This organization aims to introduce people to sports, to practice sports initially for pleasure and the benefits it entails, and later perhaps to try competition.
NP: What will be offered on the day in Grasse on the 18th?
PM: There will be 22 sports activities such as: athletics, gymnastics, golf, judo, tennis, yoga, boxing, fencing, handball, volleyball, country dance…
Activities focused on health like: “sport and disability, sport and pregnancy supervised by midwives from the Grasse maternity ward, sport and cancer, sport and well-being”. There will also be “Sport and psychiatry” which is in development.
NP: Why choose the city of Grasse?
PM: We are very well received in Grasse, we already visited last year and the day went very well. Grasse is the city of perfume and it fits perfectly with our slogan “Feel Sport”.
NP: What are the new features of this second edition?
PM: This year, we have quadrupled the number of sports activities and targeted presentations on prevention and the benefits of sports. The goal for 2016 is to focus on practice, to develop sports initially and perhaps competition. But our primary goal is to encourage at least one sports activity.
