World Alzheimer’s Day

Latest News

More than 860,000 people in France have Alzheimer’s disease, and each year, 225,000 new cases are recorded.

Since 1994, an international day of mobilization has been organized every September 21st to raise public awareness about this disease, as well as to improve the lives of the patients and their caregivers.

This day will be an opportunity for relatives and caregivers of patients to interact with professionals, gain information, and get advice through workshops to better understand this disease, organize daily life (appropriate care for Alzheimer’s patients at home or in facilities), find respite solutions available for caregivers, or simply share experiences with other families.

To allow the day centers in Nice to participate in this World Alzheimer’s Day, the city of Nice and its many partners* have decided to organize an event this Friday, September 19th, starting at 2 PM, at the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure.

Activities will also be organized with “The Wishing Tree”: Patients will prepare colored ribbons with inscriptions relating to the word “memory” for this day. A “wishing tree” will be available to all participants to hang these ribbons. The public will also be invited to tie small colorful ribbons after writing a word or a wish on them.

An exhibition titled โ€œMemories of Niceโ€ showcasing the memories of patients about the city of Nice, as well as photos depicting their preparation for the day (dance, singing, ribbon workshop), will be displayed.

Finally, more specific activities for Alzheimer’s patients will be offered.

The folk group “Nice La Belle” will participate in this afternoon event.
