After three terms of joint lists and collaboration within the regional majority, it is official: the left is now split into two distinct parts. The PCF and EELV (along with the Left Party and the Ensemble movement) will create their own list and position themselves as competitors to their former allies, with the ambition of surpassing them and representing the left-wing electorate in the second round.
National politics, where these parties are clearly in opposition to the governmental majority, have dismantled the logic of a united front to face powerful competitors who are favored in forecasts.
“The Cooperative Region” will be the slogan of this watermelon list (with a green rind and red flesh), which aims to mobilize voters and spark “a new hope on the left.”
Sophie Camard (EELV) and the communist Jean-Marc Coppola will be the two “co-leaders of the list” in PACA. Cooperative Region will thus mean dual roles to ensure equal representation?
For the moment, there is the perennial criticism of the national government: the communist Jean-Marc Coppola criticizes the government for its “austerity, reduced state allocations, and decreased public investment.”
“We are cooperating today for a citizen awakening, a new political space that we call the +Cooperative Region+,” declared the other co-leader of the list, Sophie Camard (EELV).
“Cooperating is a working method that will allow us to compare our existing proposals to achieve a coordinated program among the different components of our list and citizens,” explained Sophie Camard, launching “a call for citizen-cooperators” who can participate in developing a program by expressing themselves on a website (www.region-cooperative.org).
In fact, it’s what more or less all parties do, albeit using various forms of organization, but citizen-cooperator has a different appeal.
