“There is always the school year that everyone talks about, and then there’s the one we know less about.” Lauriano Azinheirinha, Deputy Mayor for Education, accompanied by the Mayor, Philippe Pradal, presents the evolution of leisure centers and extracurricular activities.
Hidden behind the slides, under the seats, behind the walls… in the courtyard of the Rothschild school in Nice, the children play the “boar” game. Every Wednesday afternoon, the students of this school “travel across France” and discover the heritage of different regions. Today, they are hunting the “Corsican boar!”
“There are still places available!” Lauriano Azinheirinha, along with the Mayor, visited the municipal Rothschild site and couldn’t hide his enthusiasm when speaking about the 48 municipal and associative sites that can accommodate 4,500 children each year. It must be said that this wasn’t always the case, as the city previously had only 7 structures where places were limited to 700 children. Today, things have greatly evolved, and the Deputy Mayor wants to get the message across.
The children who will be welcomed in these centers on Wednesday afternoons and during the holidays will benefit from a specially prepared program intended to provide them with “magical” moments and, above all, to “make them forget what happened in July.”
“A child needs to dream, escape, and have fun! These current issues should not disturb or even concern them… it doesn’t affect them, they should simply focus on having fun!” The priority for the Deputy Mayor is “the life of the child” both at school and in extracurricular activities.
Moreover, during his speech, Lauriano Azinheirinha “thanks and congratulates everyone who worked all summer to prepare for this school year.” Everything has been done to ensure that children can have fun while learning new things.
The Deputy assures that there are enough places so that “every child from 3 to 12 years old, from any social, community, cultural, or religious background… can be welcomed in the city’s 48 structures.”
