The “July 14 Collective” is organizing a demonstration “for peace and against all forms of discrimination” this Saturday at Garibaldi Square at 2 PM.
The terror exerted by Daesh is linked to its totalitarian social project, deadly for coexistence, equality, women’s rights, and democracy. This project keeps the world’s populations under permanent threat.
But how to fight it? Explanations by Arthur Lรฉduc (Ensemble 06), one of the organizers.
The right and the far-right already have their ready-made answers: ultra-securitarian discourse (even though legitimate personal safety was not ensured on July 14), threats to rights and freedoms, racist and Islamophobic generalizations…
By acting a little slower and less forcefully but in the same direction as the right and the extreme right, extending the state of emergency (although perfectly useless) under their pressure, Hollande and Valls once again demonstrate that they are incapable of providing the answers that one could legitimately expect from the left.
In Nice, during the ceremony following July 14, there were shameful and unacceptable behaviors, particularly when bereaved Muslim families were targeted and insulted.
Must we still remind that Muslim populations are by far the most numerous victims of Daesh’s terror?
And must we remind that among the victims of July 14 in Nice, more than a third were of Muslim culture?
Enough of the discrimination, racism, and in particular, the Islamophobia that we saw once again in action with the scandalous anti-burkini decrees!
Enough of using arguments stolen from secularism and women’s rights to target Muslim women!
Fighting Daesh’s terror and combating the racism of the right and far-right are two inseparable priorities: what they want to impose on us is an inhumane society, an apartheid society. On the contrary, it is by cultivating an open and democratic society, respectful and supportive, fraternal and secular, equal and vigilant, that we can and must oppose Daesh!
This is how we can regain hope and confidence and stop Daesh’s recruitment, especially among the youth!
The society we want, in Nice as elsewhere, is one of “living together”!
