The tram is warming up its muscles even though, for the moment, the full-sized tram on display at Place Garibaldi must remain at a standstill! But the tunnel boring machine is advancing, as are the teams working on the surface section, which will be the first to become operational in mid-2018. It won’t be until 2019 that the tramway will run from the port to the airport as planned.
For now, there are no obstacles preventing the east-west line project from reaching its conclusion as hoped by the citizens of Nice, who endure the inevitable disruptions before being able to enjoy much faster transportation.
For the moment, they have to content themselves with watching and keeping their eyes wide open.
Alstom for the technical part and Ora Ito for the design have been appointed by the municipality as the designers and implementers.
The result of their work is a cutting-edge tram in terms of innovation, at the forefront of technology and originality. A competition was held to choose the color of the trams: ochre won.
A good choice, according to the general opinion of the people on-site.
