Regional Elections in PACA: The UDI and Modem have chosen their leader, it is Christian Estrosi

Latest News

“Elections are won in the center. That’s why our position … is central,” claims the leader of the Maralpins centrists, proud to have some of his representatives (some in eligible positions) on the list led by the mayor of Nice for the regional elections.

Once again, Rudy Salles will stand by Christian Estrosi in this fight, as the alliance between these two politicians is an established fact, regardless of the circumstances.

And the record keeps playing the same tune: “After Michel Vauzelle’s disastrous management, the PACA needs to once again become a region of the future,” Rudy Salles continues, with former Modem rivals by his side, who have returned home after years of wandering.

Fabien Benard, the president of Modem 06, gives an inherent meaning to this “return home”: “it’s time for people of goodwill to come together.”

An advocate for pragmatic politics, this rallying of centrists to the Republican right party is the result of joint work in defining the program and a complementarity between Christian Estrosi’s dogmatism on major societal themes and common sense and pragmatism in everyday management, which aligns more with their moderate vision.

The challenge, however, is shaping up to be tough against the FN, whose progress in the conservative electorate indicates a worrying fracture, forcing candidate Estrosi to listen to radical ideas rather than the centrists’ moderate line.

The real risk is that the permeability between the electorates of the two right-wing factions might create an alarming scenario: relying on socialist withdrawal to block the National Front.
