Latest News

After the unpleasant surprise in August, the unemployment figures for September were highly anticipated. The data released this Tuesday by Pรดle emploi and the Ministry of Labor should please the government as they are very good.

In fact, there isn’t just one unemployment figure but several: those from Pรดle emploi and also those from Insee, calculated according to the rules set by the International Labour Organization (ILO).

As a result, depending on the method chosen, France has 2.8 million (Insee) or 3.5 million (Pรดle emploi) unemployed people.

The number of unemployed registered with Pรดle emploi in category A (without any activity) decreased by 66,300 people in Metropolitan France compared to the month of August.

This represents a decline of 1.9%, the largest drop recorded since November 2000.

Sufficient to more than offset the additional 50,000 unemployed people registered with Pรดle emploi in August.

The number of job seekers stands at 321,670 people in the Paca region, representing a 2% decrease in one month. In the Alpes-Maritimes, 69,250 unemployed are recorded, a decrease of 1.8% in one month.
