David Casteu is set to embark on his 12th Dakar. Five riders will accompany him: Romain Souvignet, Charles Cuypers, Thierry Domenach, Charles Monier, and Jean-Christophe Mรฉnard.
The public and enthusiasts were invited to the National Sports Museum at the Allianz Riviera stadium, in the presence of the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, a former motorcycle racer, and Etienne Lavigne, the director of the event, for the presentation of David Casteu, the winner of the Dakar Series in 2013 and 2014, 2nd in the Dakar in 2007, and 10th in the last edition, who presented his team for the next Dakar (January 4 to 17, 2015).
Team Casteu was created in 2010 to leverage his years of racing experience and oversee physical, technical, and driving preparation, advise on equipment and motorcycle choices, and provide a mechanical and logistical support structure that allows the rider to focus solely on the race.
The 2015 Dakar Route
In Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia, the drivers and crews of the 2015 Dakar will discover or rediscover the subtlety and ruggedness of the pure rally raid. Cars and trucks, which haven’t experienced a marathon stage since 2005, will face one this year. A few innovations, such as alternating rest days, will change the overall pace of the rally.
