The Harley du Cœur° have donated more than 500 new toys and 700 kilograms of new school supplies to the Antoine Lacassagne Center for children with cancer undergoing high-energy proton therapy this Thursday at 4:30 PM at the Mediterranean Institute of Proton Therapy.
Thanks to the charity picnic “1 toy = 1 lunch” organized by Harley du Cœur with “Les Toques Brûlés”* and all the chefs who joined this great show of solidarity, in July 2016 in the Cimiez Gardens, the association managed to collect nearly 1,000 new toys, 500 of which were destined for the Antoine Lacassagne Center.
This vast operation was followed by a collection of school supplies on August 26 and 27, in partnership with the Carrefour Nice Lingostière store, the Marriott AC Hotel in Nice, and the Marriott Porte de Monaco. A total of 1.9 tons of new school supplies were collected, with nearly 700 kg for the Antoine Lacassagne Center.
The dedication of the big-hearted bikers doesn’t stop there! Indeed, the Harley du Coeur have created a child-sized model of the high-energy proton therapy accelerator Proteus® One. The goal is for the children undergoing treatment to engage with the machine in a playful way and feel less apprehensive about their treatment.
Moreover, following the “Cooking Hand in Hand” and “American Day” operations, the association has opened, with the profits obtained, a birth registry to acquire childcare equipment for young children housed at La Consolata, the reception house of the Antoine Lacassagne Center for children and their parents.
