Last session of the Municipal Council, this morning, before the end-of-year festivities. It will take place, exceptionally, at the CUM while awaiting the new council chamber which is being prepared at the main town hall.
The highlight will be the presentation of the 2015 preliminary budget, which, without a doubt, will give rise to some intense verbal exchanges between the municipal majority and the various opposition parties.
It’s easy to imagine that the concerned services will have a hard time finding budgetary balance given the reduction in State transfers.
There is also keen anticipation to find out whether the reduction of local tax relief to 10% instead of the current 15% will be confirmed or not, following criticism from the opposition during the discussion of budget orientations at the previous session.
