Squat on Luciano Boulevard: the Mayor of Nice determined to end the illegal occupation

Latest News

Since August 2019, a municipal plot has been illegally occupied by around a hundred people on Jean Luciano Boulevard, creating significant nuisances: night-time fires, illegal waste dumping, young children wandering on the roads…

An intolerable situation for which the City Hall of Nice initiated an eviction process as early as last September with the Nice Tribunal de Grande Instance.

In December 2019, even though the winter break does not apply to illegal occupations and these people occupy this land without any rights or title, the summary judge notified the obligation to leave the premises only from April 1, 2020.

Today, nearly a hundred people live in caravans or makeshift shelters. Aware of the nuisances caused by this illegal occupation and in order to ensure everyone’s safety, the city of Nice has mobilized all its services and remains particularly attentive to the evolution of the situation.
