The lockdown measures are not always sufficiently respected by the population. Given the approach of the Easter holidays and in view of the peaks announced by health authorities, the municipality has taken measures to ensure that no non-professional or non-essential travel takes place in the area.
Taking advantage of his dual role as Mayor of Nice and President of the Metropolis, Christian Estrosi has asked the Prefect to reinforce certain parts of this municipal decree with a prefectural order applied across the entire Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.
To this effect:
Prohibition of all Air BnB-type rental activities (except for accommodations already occupied as part of the lockdown) and hotel accommodations in Nice for leisure purposes during the Easter holiday period. This measure is supported by the hoteliers’ union.
Closure of hypermarkets on Sundays. This measure, taken to prevent the centers from becoming places for Sunday strolls, is supported by the directors of the main hypermarkets in Nice: Leclerc Saint-Isidore, Carrefour Lingostière, Carrefour TNL. This order does not apply to neighborhood supermarkets.
Encouragement of State authorities to request Enedis to verify that secondary residences are not occupied during the holiday period to ensure compliance with the lockdown period.
Request for increased checks at tolls and highway exits leading to the city of Nice and the metropolis, to prevent the arrival of people from zone C, whose holidays start this Friday, and to increase the number of filter checkpoints at train stations and the airport exits.
