The Marc Chagall National Museum labeled as “Securi-site”.

Latest News

This is a first for a museum located in the Alpes-Maritimes: an agreement for the site security of the auditorium of the Marc Chagall National Museum.

In a highly touristy region, which has already been the target of attacks, this agreement holds particular importance, as it inaugurates a series of other agreements that will forge close ties between security services and cultural institutions in the department.

In close collaboration with the city of Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes department, cultural sites commit to pursuing common objectives established in this agreement:

  • ensuring the safety of visitors on-site, through enhanced prevention and site protection measures;
  • promoting interservice cooperation, the implementation, and sharing, depending on circumstances, of the necessary human, technical, and organizational resources.

In this context, the Marc Chagall National Museum—a site with both tourist and cultural purposes—will be awarded the “Sécuri-site” Label by the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, following the opinion of the departmental “security-tourism” council.

This agreement is a real asset in attracting congress attendees and international event professionals, who are now aware of these security issues. Indeed, the Côte d’Azur welcomes nearly 10.3 million tourists per year, ranking as the top French tourist destination after Paris.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the tourism sector represents 18% of jobs, equating to nearly 75,000 direct jobs related to the tourism activity in the region.
