Charles Ange Ginésy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, alongside Eric Ciotti, presented the summer activity program as part of the “Seniors in Action” initiative yesterday.
The Alpes-Maritimes department is committed to supporting seniors through a program aimed at preventing isolation, developing social and local connections, and offering a diverse range of tourist, cultural, sports, and leisure activities across the department for people aged 55 and over. Iconic venues such as the Palais des Rois Sardes, the Mercury cinema, departmental museums and natural parks, the Fort de la Drète, and the Laure Ecard performance hall will be accessible to the greatest number of people.
Initiated 7 years ago, with 1,114 members as of December 31, 2012, the initiative now boasts over 25,000 members, granting access to numerous cultural and leisure activities, some of which are organized as competitions (dance, cinema, theater, hiking, tours, pétanque, belote, choir, etc.).
Yesterday, the departmental medal was awarded to Mr. Roger Delphin, who celebrated his 100th birthday. He participates in the Seniors in Action program activities, notably the Scrabble activity at the Maison des Seniors Nice Nord.
