Clusters under investigation, resurgence of the virus in wastewater, and an increase in infections: indicators of a potential resurgence of the epidemic in France are multiplying, just a few days after the end of the health emergency.
First alarm signal: the reproduction rate of the epidemic, which is the number of people infected by a sick person, is on the rise. It has crossed the symbolic threshold of 1 (specifically 1.05), an increase from the previous week.
The number of new confirmed cases is also increasing. From June 29 to July 5, 3,797 people tested positive for Covid-19, compared to 3,406 the previous week. This figure could worsen with the start of the summer holidays and a relaxation of behaviors, particularly within family and friend circles. On July 8, among the 68 clusters under investigation, 20% involved extended family.
