Photographic projects 2018/2019: an exhibition in the making!

In the context of the “Photographic Projects 2018/2019,” students from kindergarten to high school were able to participate in an artistic and, above all, photographic adventure. An opening took place this Monday at the Charles Nรจgre Photography Museum.

As part of the partnership between the City of Nice and the Rectorate, focusing on cultural and educational actions, the Charles Nรจgre Photography Museum has developed a scheme, in place for 15 years now, aimed at uniting elementary, middle, and high school students, cultural professionals, and artists on photographic projects.

To conclude this event, an opening of the exhibition of photos taken by the students is scheduled every year at the Nice Photography Museum.

In the Wake of the Greats…

This year, the projects were primarily centered around the exhibition dedicated to Berenice Abbott, a significant reference in the world of photography. She is particularly known for creating, in the 1930s, a topography of her hometown, New York. Her work has made a mark on the history of urban photography, both documentary and modernist, but also imbued with emotion.

The students naturally turned their gaze to Nice and the places they frequent, interpreting the urban changes in their city in a documentary fashion as well. Others focused on places familiar to them, staging themselves in their school to explore the decomposition of movement inherent in photography. Finally, the youngest took pleasure in creating montages and producing original posters.

This temporary exhibition is open to the public until June 30th.
