An alarming figure: a 28% increase in abandonments in SPA shelters since the beginning of the year.
In 2018, 14,871 dogs and cats were abandoned directly in the SPA shelters.
The SPA association is doing everything possible to cope with this unprecedented wave of abandonments through the ongoing dedication of teams on the ground. The already crowded shelters are making every effort to take in all these animals and nurse them back to health after the trauma they’ve experienced, before offering them for adoption.
