On the occasion of its hundredth anniversary, the French Communist Party (PCF) is releasing a book that traces the struggles of the past and future.
The French Communist Party, created in 1920, is celebrating its hundredth anniversary. A centenary full of history. A rich history that has led to many societal advances. In this symbolic year for the PCF, a book has been released on this occasion.
Nearly sixty writers and artists contributed to the creation of this book. The collectionโs theme is โlet’s dream the world to better transform itโ. In this book, numerous subjects like ecology, culture, and feminism are discussed. Renowned artists, such as Ernest Pignon-Ernest, are included. The book also features works by the artist Picasso. The Spanish painter created numerous covers for the communist newspaper โLe Patrioteโ. These are also featured in the book.
โThe artists freely participated in creating this bookโ says Robert Injey, head of the PCF in Nice. This work had been considered for a long time, but its creation dates back to September.
An anniversary hindered by COVID-19
Beyond the publication of the book, the French Communist Party wanted to exhibit the artworks included in the volume and much more. A film section was also planned to celebrate this historic hundredth anniversary. At present, none of this is possible. And for one simple reason: Covid-19.
The health crisis is delaying deadlines and compromising the PCF’s projects. Robert Injey hopes the exhibition โwill take place next Mayโ but there is no guarantee at the moment. In the current situation, it is difficult, as everywhere else, to plan or organize the slightest event.
