Students are always asking for help. Despite the announcements made by the president last week, they continue to protest.
โฌ1 meals, the creation of a psychology voucher, a return to in-person classes one day a week. The announcements made by Emmanuel Macron are a step forward. However, these are still considered insufficient. Today in Nice, two movements addressing student precarity took place. The first occurred around 10:30 AM. A gathering on Place Garibaldi, which then turned into a march. Several signs addressed to the President of the Republic; one reads “Macron, shut your mouth and open the universities”. The AED and AESH were also supported. The lack of resources provided or the salary increases were also mentioned during this march. “We are the producers of tomorrow, everyone has the right to decent education, decent working conditions” was chanted. Today, students are in doubt and feel they are not in the best conditions to pursue their studies, and this has been the case for nearly a year.
The Face06 takes place at the University of Valrose
“It is possible to return to studying while being responsible”. The Face06 has also decided to fight against student precarity and denounce working conditions. In Valrose Park, the president of Face06, Amaury Baudoux, called on students to come in large numbers and sit on the grass in protest. “We must return to the university benches”, he announced. The reason being that attending classes in person is an important psychological support. Being present 20% of the time “is clearly not enough” for Amaury Baudoux. Nonetheless, he welcomes the progress made. Indeed, he notes that a few weeks ago, students were barely considered by the Government. “Thank you Madam Minister for the efforts that have been made, but they are still not enough,” concludes the President of Face06.
