This afternoon, Christian Estrosi presented the municipal police’s report at the Saint-Roch hotel, the future police headquarters.
This year 2020 has been complicated for everyone. Nice, in addition to the health crisis, was a victim of an attack on October 29 last year, as well as the Alex storm at the end of September. In response to these tragic events, the municipal police were mobilized. In the courtyard of the future police headquarters, Christian Estrosi spoke to some of them. He began by congratulating “the first municipal police in France”. Every year, the mayor delivers a roadmap with targets to achieve, “you have not only met these objectives, but you have exceeded them” he asserts.
An omnipresent police force
The performance displayed on the ground has been a real satisfaction for the mayor. Beyond the three major events, he wanted to remind that the municipal police had demonstrated numerous qualities, particularly in fighting crime, “a 99.6% increase in arrests in the fight against drugs”. During this health crisis, Christian Estrosi emphasized that “the Nice municipal police accounted for 10% of the citations in our country during the first lockdown”. The aim of highlighting these figures is simply to show that in Nice, the police are extremely active.
The municipal police, beloved in Nice
Christian Estrosi is proud of the results, but also of the image portrayed by the Nice municipal police “I wanted to survey the people of Nice with IPSOS, who indicated at 77% that they have a good image of the municipal police.”. According to him, this simply demonstrates their strength “I have in Nice not only the first municipal police in France but also the best in France.”. A platform was created to show support for the Nice police. Christian Estrosi concludes his speech with the directive for 2021, “Don’t change anything, keep doing what you do, remain who you are!”
