The announcement has been made! Only bars will have to close down by 10 p.m. Restaurants, on the other hand, can remain open until 12:30 a.m. Moreover, sports halls are required to close starting tonight. These announced measures are to be considered for the next 15 days.
The Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, Bernard Gonzalez, held a press conference at the prefecture on Monday evening. He revisited the new restrictive measures that will affect the Alpes-Maritimes department starting tonight. Here is a point-by-point summary:
- Sports halls both public and private must now close their doors until further notice (ERP type X and sports activities in ERP type L).
The activities for school groups, extracurricular or minor groups, professional and high-level athletes, continuing education, and outdoor activities remain authorized. Pools will remain open but collective changing rooms will be closed (individual ones are still open).
- Festive and family gatherings in ERPs (Establishments Receiving the Public) such as party halls and multipurpose rooms, marquees, tents, and other structures are prohibited.
- Prohibition of the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public at bars, outside of restaurant terraces and authorized drinking establishments (places having a seating area for dining), from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Continuation of the measures already in place in the Alpes-Maritimes, namely, prohibition of gatherings of more than 10 people, particularly in a festive context on public roads and places open to the public. However, protest demonstrations are allowed, as well as gatherings of a professional nature, passenger transport services, ERPs, funeral ceremonies, guided tours organized by individuals with a professional card, and markets.
Closure of restaurants, convenience stores such as corner shops or snacks, and places dedicated to the sale and consumption of alcohol every day between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.
The limit of 1,000 people for all types of events (sports, culturalโฆ) is maintained. However, it now only concerns visitors. It is no longer necessary to deduct the staff dedicated to organizing.
All of these measures concern the entire communes of the Alpes-Maritimes department and are applicable until October 12th inclusive.
