The president of the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War (ONACVG) of the Alpes-Maritimes, Jean Biancotto, passed away this Tuesday, March 2.


The president of the department, Charles-Ange Ginésy, announced Jean Biancotto’s passing in a poignant press release. He emphasized his courage and determination to guide the younger generations through sharing and remembrance: “He made the duty of remembrance his daily battle and ensured to transmit to the younger ones the values that guided the fighters’ commitment, relays the president of the Departmental Council. Jean Biancotto, knight of the Legion of Honor, a severely war-wounded, dedicated his life to preserving the memory of these hero fighters, who died for France.”

It is important to remember that Mr. Biancotto played a major role in supporting the families of the victims of the July 14, 2016, attack on the Promenade des Anglais. He was, is, and will remain one of the greatest figures of the Alpes-Maritimes.
