The event will take place from March 23 to May 1, 2023. As part of this event, the department is launching a competition among seventeen professionals, each of whom must create a landscape design. These designs will be displayed at six sites on the Côte d’Azur hosting the event.
Shadow and light play, original pathways, resting spots, and landscape staging are the challenges of this fourth edition. The theme is: “surprising perspectives.” The creators will also need to incorporate sustainable development into their designs.
Six sites on the Côte d’Azur have been chosen to host the event: Antibes-Juan-les-Pins, Cannes, Grasse, Menton, Nice, and Monaco. Each of these will feature two to three gardens, each measuring 200 square meters, totaling seventeen green spaces.
Each host city will present its own creation linked to the competition theme. These will be temporary, created by the city’s Green Spaces Department. Cap-d’Ail, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Tourrettes-sur-Loup, and Mandelieu-la-Napoule also aspire to participate in the competition by offering creations that will not be subject to voting.
The competition is open to landscape professionals, landscape architects, garden landscapers, landscape companies, as well as architects, designers, artists, and set designers. Students in their final year at the National School of Architecture and Landscape can also apply.
There will be seven awards up for grabs. The “Official Jury Prize” will be presented by elected officials, personalities, and garden representatives. The second is the “GREEN Deal Prize,” which will reward the most eco-friendly creation. Journalists from media specializing in French and European gardens will award the “Press Prize.” The last is the “Landscape Professionals Prize,” which will be given by the National Union of Landscape Companies.
Registrations are open from February 7 to June 13, 2022.
