The Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of the Alpes-Maritimes, organizer of the “Beausoleil Côte-d’Azur Sport Film Festival – FICTS” in collaboration with the municipality of Beausoleil, has decided, following the opinion of the jury president, Bernard Maccario, not to accept Russian and Belarusian films into the competition of the festival taking place from May 10 to 12 for this new edition.

The French delegate of the FITCS, Renato Tullio Ferrari, has been informed of this decision, which aligns with the recommendations made by the IOC and the entire international sports movement in light of the war that Russia is waging, with the connivance of Belarus, against Ukraine.

Philippe Manassero, president of the CDOS 06, stated: “Sport is, above all, peace.” He also reminded that in 1892, “Baron Pierre de Coubertin tirelessly advocated the idea that competitive sport, practiced internationally, could contribute to fostering understanding, respect, and peace among nations. It is therefore important for Russian and Belarusian athletes to stand up and demand from their respective governments a cessation of hostilities and the initiation of a peace process. As far as we are concerned, the 2022 edition of the festival will proceed without these two countries.”
