Major maneuvers and behind-the-scenes negotiations for the first round of the regional elections on June 20 and 27 with the closure of the list submissions, marking a milestone before the official campaign kicks off on May 31.
Among the 13 metropolitan regions, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and its outgoing president LR Renaud Muselier win the suspense award following disagreements with his party over the agreement made with LREM, which many “Republican” leaders do not accept, and some have already announced that they will not vote for this list.
The submission of candidacies was closed on May 17 at noon. A total of nine lists have been submitted. The 9 lead candidates for the 2021 Regional Elections are:
- Renaud Muselier (LR-LREM)
- Jean-Marc Governatori (Ecology at the center)
- Valérie Laupies (Zou, the list that frees you from the system)
- Thierry Mariani (RN)
- Jean-Laurent Felizia (Ecological and social gathering)
- Noël Chiusano (Stand up France)
- Isabelle Bonnet (LO) – Hervé Guererra (Yes to Provence)
- Mikael Vincenzi (A different world)
