A new aspect of social life resumed this Wednesday after seven months of restrictions due to the epidemic, with the reopening of swimming pools, gyms, bars, and indoor restaurants, and the extension of the curfew from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Remote work is being relaxed, as are the rules in canteens.

The pandemic has claimed more than 3.75 million lives worldwide since late December 2019, according to a tally by AFP. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the contamination indicator is at its lowest, 28/100,000. According to health authority figures, 65 Covid deaths were recorded this Wednesday. Currently, 13,526 patients are hospitalized. 2,326 patients are still in critical care, with 94 admitted in the last 24 hours. 5,557 new cases have been reported.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 29,056,963 people have received at least one injection (43.4% of the total population and 55.3% of the adult population), and 13,082,882 people have received two injections (19.5% of the total population and 24.9% of the adult population). 14,661,800 people have a complete vaccination schedule.

European parliamentarians overwhelmingly gave their final approval on Wednesday to the European Digital Covid Certificate, intended to facilitate travel this summer within the EU, with the responsibility now on the states to implement it by July 1st. These certificates confirm that a person has been vaccinated against Covid-19, has tested negative, or is immune after an infection. They are issued free of charge, in digital or paper format, and are meant to prevent the need for quarantines in destination countries.
