No more masks outdoors starting today, curfew to end early on Sunday.

This is called … pragmatism! A rule is not respected? Instead of sanctioning, they change the rule! It’s simple, isn’t it?

Since the curfew at 11 PM is less and less respected and the behavior of the revelers (examples: last Saturday at Ponchettes beach for a giant gathering, Tuesday on the Quai des Etats-Unis after the France-Germany match) leads to increasingly contested police interventions, the end of the curfew is moved up to June 20.

“The situation is improving faster than we had hoped,” announced Prime Minister Jean Castex, “it is normal that we adjust our measures.”

Elementary, my dear Watson, as Sherlock Holmes would have said if he were still active!!!

The curfew came into effect on October 30 at 9 PM throughout the metropolitan area, then was moved up to 8 PM for the holiday season, with an exception for Christmas. It was then moved up to 6 PM for the entire metropolitan area on January 16, then moved back to 7 PM on March 20, to 9 PM on May 19, and finally to 11 PM on June 9.

As for masks, they will need to be worn “when gathering, in a crowded place, a queue, at a market or in the stands of a stadium”,
and in enclosed areas, such as offices and public transport. The Minister of Health, Olivier Vรฉran, called for “collective vigilance.”

Given recent precedents, one can only express doubts!

On the other hand, the Government specified that the capacity measures, in place until June 30 in most public venues, “have not been modified,” and the new rules applicable after July 1 are to be confirmed as early as next week. Additionally, the protocol concerning the organization of the Fรชte de la Musique on June 21 is maintained as is.
