The second most important operator at Nice Côte d’Azur airport, generating 24% of air traffic, EasyJet might find itself in turmoil this summer.
Several EasyJet routes could be affected by flight cancellations. It is the French pilots employed by the company who have warned their management about possible cancellations due to a lack of staff. As indicated by Arnaud Wiplier, the president of the National Union of Airline Pilots for the company, the pilots lament “mainly a shortage of flight attendants and stewards, and to a lesser extent captains.”
A letter was sent on Monday, June 6th, to warn the management, who “seem to not have grasped the magnitude of the problem.” With several accessible destinations (Faro, Seville, Tenerife, or Tangier) and the international success of Nice and the Côte d’Azur during the summer, the British airline needs to make strong decisions or risk missing out on the most important season.
