This ceremony takes place as part of the French Remembrance Week organized by the association of the same name, which aims to preserve the memory of those who died for France, maintain the monuments erected in their honor, and pass on the torch of remembrance to successive generations.

Ceremonies in tribute to soldiers who died for France are also held at the Church of the Vow, the Great Synagogue, and the United Protestant Church of Nice.

A candle lighting, known as the Flames of Hope, in the presence of high school and elementary students from the city of Nice, and a pilgrimage are organized at the military sections of the Caucade Cemetery.
