In an op-ed published with other parliamentarians on the Huffington Post, the Alpes-Maritimes deputy explains her position:
“Well-regulated, both in substance and form, this referendum could become a major tool of democracy.
As representatives of the citizens, we owe it to them to support their projects that are worthy of defense. The significant debate that is opening and the upcoming constitutional reform will allow for discussions about the future of our democracy. The system must evolve, grow, and meet the expectations of our fellow citizens. Therefore, this citizens’ initiative referendum must be considered.
That is why I, along with my colleagues, am calling to defend this project in the coming months, with the aim of co-construction and dialogue with the French people.”
