The *Occitan Dictation* is back for 2023. It will take place on Saturday, January 28th at 9:30 am at the Centre Universitaire Mรฉditerranรฉen, where you can test your proficiency in the Niรงoise language.

The City of Nice is once again hosting the *Occitan Dictation*, a must-attend competition, in partnership with a group of Niรงoise associations (Institute of Occitan Studies, Association of Regional Language Teachers, Federation of Associations of the County of Nice, Traditional Arts Collective, Nissart Per Tougiou, and Nissa Pantai). Since 2008, Christian Estrosi has been highlighting the promotion of the Niรงoise language, culture, and traditions. The mayor is committed to preserving our tangible and intangible heritage, alongside his deputy, Jean-Luc Gagliolo, who is dedicated to Education and Niรงoise Identity.

### An event for young and old

Everyone, regardless of their level, can participate in this dictation in the Niรงoise language on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 9:30 am at the Centre Universitaire Mรฉditerranรฉen. A correction will be distributed to participants and published on [nice.fr](https://www.nice.fr/fr/) and the city’s social media. Don’t forget to bring your own writing materials. Created in 1998 by the “Centre Occitan del Paรญs Castrรฉs”, the Occitan Dictation is an event that promotes the Occitan language. Today, more than forty French cities throughout the Occitanie region participate, including Barcelona. For this 26th edition, Niรงoise associations are coming together to lend their expertise to the City of Nice. It is a free event open to everyone, taking place at the Centre Universitaire Mรฉditerranรฉen, thus gathering a large number of participants.
