63 years after its last European quarter-final, the Gym will host FC Basel tomorrow night to pursue a historic qualification.
While OGC Nice had been showing a coherent and appealing front since Didier Digard took charge at the beginning of the year, this April has been particularly challenging for the Eagles. Undefeated until now, the team from Nice suffered defeats in their last two league matches (against PSG and Brest) and have not secured a victory since the return match against Sheriff on March 16.
To make matters worse, controversial information about the internal crisis between Fournier and Galtier last season was revealed by the press. Although both men are no longer with the club, an investigation has been launched and searches have been conducted within the club.
A heavy and difficult context for the Gym before playing one of the most important matches in its modern history. Nevertheless, the club released a statement full of optimism and determination “Per la gloria de Nissa”
During the defeat at Brest, coach Digard also displayed a smiling face, looking forward to this second quarter-final match in front of the cameras. With confidence and calmness, the former Nice captain said “see you on Thursday to make history all together”.
For this encounter, the Eagles will need the support of their fans, who have already turned out in large numbers for the first leg (2-2). The milestone of 30,000 tickets sold has been surpassed, and we are eager to witness this historic match in a blazing Allianz Riviera!
