For its second season on the Continental circuit, Team Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur is stringing together races. This week, the team is participating in the 4 Days of Dunkirk.
Six stages are on the program for the Aiglons in this race taking place around Dunkirk. Today, the riders raced over the 196 km distance of this stage. To reach Abbeville, five men broke away from the peloton. Among them, Damien Girard (21 years old) tried his luck, picking up three points for the mountain classification in the process. In the breakaway for nearly 130 km, the rider from Team Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur gave in 18 km from the finish on an acceleration by Mathis Le Berre. It was a commendable solo effort for this first stage, which ended in a sprint.
In this situation, the Azuréenne team did not manage to stand out against the bigger teams. The first rider from the blue-azure team to cross the line was Axel Narbonne Zuccarelli (21st), far behind the winner Olav Kooij.
It is worth noting that no rider appeared to have been involved in the two crashes that marked the final kilometers of the race.
