On August 22nd, at the Allianz Riviera during the Nice-Marseille match, a Nice supporter was filmed making a kippa gesture as well as a Nazi salute.
On Wednesday evening, the Nice criminal court ruled, sentencing the 30-year-old Nice supporter to a one-year suspended prison sentence, along with a three-year ban from attending stadiums for “incitement to racial hatred and apology for war crimes and crimes against humanity.”
The Professional Football League, the OGC Nice club, and several associations such as CRIF, Licra, MRAP, and SOS Racisme, came together to demand that the gesture be strongly condemned. They call for “cleansing the stadiums of this kind of behavior.”
The match had largely degenerated with supporters coming down onto the Allianz Riviera pitch.
One of them was also tried for a kick against Dimitri Payet and was sentenced on September 30th to a one-year suspended prison sentence and a five-year stadium ban.
