On Thursday, June 8, the work on Axis 2 of the โGreen Networksโ project was inaugurated during โLa Buffa en fรชte.โ Taking advantage of this occasion, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, announced a new project for Rue de la Buffa.
Rue de la Buffa is โa must-visit place for commerce in Nice,โ stated Christian Estrosi in his speech on June 8, 2023. Its redevelopment is part of a project that aims to be dual: that of the โGreen Networksโ and the renovation of La citรฉ marchande de la Buffa. After various legal battles and negotiations, the takeover by the Parisian group APICAP marks a turning point for the commercial center. This project includes the creation of a senior residence, the construction of a hotel and a parking lot. It also includes the installation of new shops, notably the relocation of the Casino supermarket. The mayor of Nice indicated that this redevelopment is accompanied by a real โupgrade for the economic players and residents.โ Beyond the commercial center, the entire neighborhood aims to be revitalized. The work is set to begin at the end of 2023, with completion expected in 2026.
The Dante/Buffa/Libertรฉ/Hรดtel des Postes Axis
Since 2019, the ochre colors of the streets of Nice have been tinged with green through the integration of potted trees. Genuine garden streets, the various axes favored by this project also include bike lanes. The Dante/Buffa/Libertรฉ/Hรดtel des Postes Axis is an essential junction point as it connects the East and West, South and North of the city of Nice. The goal is to make Nice a model of a resilient city. Widening sidewalks, planting trees, installing shrubsโฆ In short, everything contributes to adapting the streets of Nice to climate change in respect of sustainable development. After Rue de la Buffa, it will be Rue de lโHรดtel des postesโ turn (Axis 2) and then Rue Gioffredo, Axis 3 of the project. The future green networks are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 25 tons per year. Additionally, greening helps to de-impermeabilize the soil, with nearly 7000mยฒ expected to benefit from this project. Finally, the goal is to eventually develop 6km of bike lanes. An initiative that is part of the promotion of green transport and sustainable mobility.
